Job Description:

BUSINESS/ DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) department of TD Bank is responsible for measurement and management of the bank's domestic and foreign subsidiary banking portfolio. TBSM looks after liquidity and funding management, cash management, investment strategy, capital management, funds transfer pricing, and market risk management.

The Market Risk Measurement and Analytics (MRMA) team within TBSM is responsible for measuring and reporting the interest rate, equity, and foreign exchange risks for TD non-trading portfolio. The mandates include:

Building a best-in-class risk analytics infrastructure.Producing risk measurement reporting focused on understanding current market risk exposure and risk limits.Performing analysis to deepen our understanding or market risk and provide valuable insight & recommendations for management decisions.Putting in place best-in-class governance processes to ensure accuracy of results.Ensuring that our people have the right skills to deliver best-in-class analytics and ALM modeling.Effectively communicating our results and insights to our stakeholders.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF INTERN

This Co-Op role in TBSM MRMA team will not only provide you introductory experience in a professional setting, you will also be equipped with skills and experiences that contribute to the completion of your studies and prepare you to build a career in your chosen discipline. Example accountabilities include:

Support daily operational requirements, including daily process issue investigation by working closely with the Production Support, Technology Team, Data Governance, and Modelling team to resolve process/data/model issues and ensure strong internal process controlsProactively analyze and explain changes in day-to-day risk measures with reference to drivers of market risk factorsDisplay a good operational understanding of TBSM systems including change management processParticipate in process improvements and automation initiatives, such as but not limited to, map out process flow, documentation and automate manual process to free up team's capacity (e.g. NIIS betas check, month-end valuation errors check, etc.)Research and respond to ad-hoc analysis and queries from management and/or other key stakeholders in TBSMUnderstand and comply with TD Policies, regulatory and compliance requirementsDocument processes and update EUCs to meet ongoing change requirements and standards

Program requirements

Currently enrolled in third or fourth year of an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Data, Business/Commerce, or related fields

Technical / Soft skills requirements

Familiarity with using Microsoft Office suiteStrong Microsoft Excel Power Query (SQL query) skills for data retrieval and analysis in excel – MUST HaveAbility to translate data into narrative with a demonstrated strong analytical abilityQuick to learn and apply new conceptsAbility to take initiative and balance multiple tasksHigh level of engagement and curiosity required (incl. how products work, factors contributing to results, data flow/ spreadsheet audit)Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work in teams as well as independently with tight timelineAdvanced data analytic and visualization tools, i.e.Tableau, is a bonus
