The Opportunity
The role of Finance Business Partner (FBP) acts as a strategic advisor to the regional business units, combining financial expertise with commercial insight to support decision-making and drive business performance. This role works in partnership with the Engineering Business Unit Managing Director and wider leadership team to provide financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and reporting to ensure financial goals align with strategic objectives.
The Finance Business Partner works closely with stakeholders to challenge assumptions, identify risks and opportunities, and contributes to strategic business planning. Acting as a trusted advisor, the FBP ensures consistent financial standards are maintained in line with Group Policy and Audit requirements across all projects, with strong commercial governance, identifies regional and sector performance trends and enables data-driven decision-making to achieve operational and strategic business objectives.
What you will be doing
Financial Planning & Reporting – Oversee monthly management accounts and variance analysis, ensuring accuracy and insight. Performance Management – Attend monthly CVR meetings and performance reviews, coordinating annual budget and business planning processes. Risk & Opportunity Management – Identify and consolidate financial risks and opportunities, contributing to the quarterly risk review process. Operational & Commercial Support – Work closely with operational and commercial teams to align financial insights with strategic objectives. Cost Control & Cashflow Management – Manage overhead budgets, review cash forecasts, and enhance financial reporting structures. Process Optimisation – Drive efficiency through financial process improvements and best-practice sharing. Audit & Compliance – Lead divisional financial audits, ensuring full regulatory and policy compliance. Ad-hoc Financial Support – Provide financial expertise and analysis to local teams and leadership as required. Ensure alignment with group policies, supports strategic planning cycles, and provides high-quality analysis to meet group deadlines and inform executive decision-making.What we need from you
Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least 3 years post-qualification experience. Preferably within the construction or infrastructure sectors. Strong background in FP&A, business planning, and financial partnering, ideally in a PE-backed or listed environment. Proficiency in financial systems, data analysis, and reporting tools to drive efficiency. Experience managing budgets, controlling overheads, and ensuring financial compliance. Committed accuracy, high attention to detail and continuous improvement. Always challenging and questioning the status quo Strong technical and commercial acumen. Ability to work independently and within a team. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Innovative problem-solving approach. Professional, flexible, and adaptable mindset.
