Field Technician

Job Title: Distribution Technician

Pay: $20-$23/hr

Job Description

This position involves the detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems. You will be responsible for preparing field notes, drawings, specifications, and design estimates. The role requires analytical skills to effectively interact with engineers and experienced distribution system designers.

Responsibilities

Design and independently prepare construction orders related to overhead and underground facilities associated with electric distribution systems, applying prescribed standards, guides, specifications, and procedures.Apply standards, guidelines, specifications, practices, and procedures in preparing layouts of overhead and/or underground electric distribution facilities.Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bill of materials, and any other required documents and reports for construction and maintenance projects.Assist in performing load studies on distribution transformers and investigating circuit overloads and voltage complaints to determine necessary corrective actions.Contact landowners or their agents to negotiate agreements of Rights of Way (easements) for proposed utility equipment, and obtain necessary contact and tax map information for easement processing.Prepare and submit required reports and correspondence.Assist in acquiring field data and gathering information from field notes.Perform tasks such as digitizing, copying, and scanning drawings, prints, and maps.Utilize client and company information systems to track and update design activities.Follow the Code of Safe Practices as outlined in company safety policies.

Skills and Qualifications

High school diploma requiredAbility to work outdoors 40 hours a weekinspection, utility construction, utility distribution, utility locating experience Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
