Field Service Technician (m/w/d)

As a Field Service Technician for Mechanical Field Service, the employee is responsible for providing technical service (installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair) in cooperation with field service representatives and dealers. In addition, he/she will be responsible for analyzing, tracking and troubleshooting faults and working with the relevant technical department in identifying and resolving engine and related problems. **Job duties will include but are not limited to:** + Supporting Caterpillar Engine (CM) customers through direct contact and/or through the CM parts and service dealer network. + Providing hands-on, on-site mechanical commissioning support for CM products and Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment. + Provision of on-site expertise for engine-related service tasks + Prepare well documented technical reports on commissioning and other field service-related activities. + Taking responsibility for coordinating daily field service activities between dealers, field service staff, suppliers and other departments. + Assist in resolving problems with mechanical and electronic engine components by advising on actions to be taken, providing technical support in obtaining spare parts and services for CAT engines and expediting repair work. + Organizing and carrying out repairs, overhauls and major repairs of all types of MaK engines in cooperation with the technical inspection, the shipyard, classification officers, subcontractors or dealers + Detection and assessment of damage (e.g., major engine damage) + Troubleshooting engine controls, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic (MACS and aMACS). + When not travelling, perform shop work related to overhaul, assembly of engine components and other service-related tasks + Carry out NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) material testing as appropriate. + Successful continuous participation in service-related training courses to expand existing know-how + Special service-related tasks as agreed with the team leader **Your profile:** + Industrial or engine mechanic or mechatronics technician + Knowledge of the product medium-speed diesel/gas or DF engines (Caterpillar engines/MaK or comparable engines) + Experience in non-destructive testing (Magnaflux etc.) or willingness to learn + Good written and spoken English language skills or willingness to learn + Worldwide travel up to 70 % + High degree of self-organization + At least 2 - 4 years of service experience on large diesel, Gas or DF engines + Additional qualification as electrician (for specified activities) required, this can be completed in a training course if not available + Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word, etc.) **Posting Dates:** January 30, 2026 - February 12, 2026 Caterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
