We are seeking a dedicated Field Service Technician to inspect, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair various facility systems. This role involves providing essential facility maintenance services to ensure the smooth operation of our client's building infrastructure and grounds.
ResponsibilitiesInspect, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair all types of facility systems including HVAC, electrical, lighting, fire, safety, boilers, refrigeration units, compressors, motors, and pumps.Provide facility maintenance services such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, and snow removal.Attend and participate in safety training sessions.Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and operational testing of facility systems and equipment.Utilize a CMMS computer system to document tasks performed and maintain equipment histories.Complete and input data for all assigned work orders promptly.Maintain equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly manner.Understand and apply national and local codes for equipment repair, ensuring compliance with OSHA, state, and municipal requirements.Communicate repair status of devices and systems to supervisors and managers regularly.Collaborate with teams and customer representatives from various departments, demonstrating professionalism.Coordinate activities with other vendors, including specialists.Perform daily surveys of buildings to identify repair and preventive maintenance tasks.Report to supervisor/Manager on conditions relative to general operations.Participate in and coordinate training for professional development.Available for on-call duty during nights, weekends, and holidays to address emergencies.Adapt to flexible hours to accommodate client needs.Essential SkillsHVACElectricalMechanicalTroubleshootingRepairServicePreventive maintenanceBoilers licenseEPA Universal certificationExperience with CMMSAdditional Skills & QualificationsGood general working knowledge of all trades.Proven mechanical ability and aptitude.Strong computer skills with a preference for operating knowledge of Building Management Systems.Ability to work cooperatively with others.Attention to detail and understanding of business implications.Development and implementation of cost-saving measures.2-5 years of related experience or equivalent education and experience in commercial facility maintenance.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical information.Ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.Why Work Here?Join a dynamic team that values continuous professional development and offers opportunities to work with diverse facility systems. Work EnvironmentThis is a field service role covering northwest Illinois. Employees will receive a company truck equipped with all necessary tools, as well as a laptop and phone. The work hours are from 7 am to 3:30 pm, with on-call responsibilities. The role requires travel within a specified territory, addressing approximately 3-5 work orders per day, with a primary focus on HVAC systems ranging from window units to large 20-ton units.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $39.00/hr.
