Your role and responsibilities

As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical support and service to our customers. You will perform installations, maintenance, and repairs on equipment, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction.

The work model for the role is: hybrid

This role is contributing to the Low and Medium Voltage Drives Service Team in the Central Canada region.

You will be mainly accountable for:

Applying safety rules and safe practices, as well as environmental responsibilities during all service activities.Leading Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities at customer sites and reporting unsafe practices and incidents to ensure a safe working environment.

Troubleshoot, Commission (Start-up) and Service Low and Medium Voltage drives.

Responsible for providing technical support/service to customers during the complete life cycle of the equipment.  Engineering service may include identifying and correcting hardware/software discrepancies, on-site or via telephone, pre-sale, or post-sale

Evaluate, select, and apply standard technical methods, processes, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications

Responsible for own work, either as a member of a team or independently, and may provide work direction to technicians or associates on projects

Is part of a field P&L operation, balancing customer satisfaction and profitability

Develops expertise in multiple product lines

Identifying new service business opportunities in close cooperation with customers and ABB teams.Coaching technicians and engineers, and supervising complex site activities and developing, mentoring, and providing technical guidance to colleagues. Acting as a trainer when needed, for both team members and customers.

Qualifications for the role

 Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Technologist Diploma in Electrical Technology.Minimum of 5 years experience with installation and maintenance of industrial control systems, including, low voltage and medium voltage drives, PLCs and HMIs.Strong customer focus and the ability to relate well to customer needs, strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.Must be able to work in a multi-disciplined service environment often under pressure filled conditions.Technical communication skills in English including the ability to write reports and speak effectively before customers or employees. (French in an asset)

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $73,275 and $107,470 annually. This position is a replacement of a current role
