Position Summary
The Field Service Engineer will install, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain complex mechanical, electrical, and automated industrial equipment across customer sites within the Midwest region. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical challenges, extensive travel, and working directly with customers and engineering teams to ensure equipment performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Travel extensively (80%+) throughout the Midwest; occasional international travel required.Commission, calibrate, and service new or modified equipment at customer facilities.Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and automation-related equipment issues.Review customer reports, inspect malfunctioning systems, identify root cause, and recommend proper corrective actions.Troubleshoot control systems using PLC programs, automation controls, and electrical schematics.Utilize diagnostic tools such as DVMs, oscilloscopes, and other electronic testing instruments.Perform preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and upgrade work to ensure optimal operation.Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and procedural documentation.Document service activities clearly and prepare accurate reports for customers and internal teams.Collaborate with engineering, customer service, manufacturing, and technical teams on resolving complex issues.Train customers and team members on safe and efficient equipment operations.Top Required Skills

Required
Associate’s degree in Mechanical or related discipline;Bachelor’s in Engineering strongly preferred.3+ years of experience as a Field Service Engineer or in industrial maintenance/service.Hands-on experience troubleshooting and commissioning large industrial or automated equipment.Proficiency using DVMs, oscilloscopes, and electrical diagnostic equipment.Ability to read/interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Strong computer skills; SAP experience preferred.Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.Preferred
