As a Field Inspector, your role will involve spending 8-12 hours in the field for 3-4 days a week, capturing utility pole and wire attributes using cameras, field sheets, or specific utility tools. The remaining 1-2 days will be dedicated to working remotely, reconciling field information from the previous day and preparing for the upcoming field day. You will be required to drive a personal vehicle throughout the service territory, starting with projects in the Sacramento and San Francisco areas, with potential projects in Southern California or out of state.
ResponsibilitiesCapture distribution utility pole and wire attributes in the field.Reconcile field information and prepare for field activities.Travel to various project sites as needed, driving a personal vehicle.Solve problems and overcome challenges independently and within a team.Work in a team-led environment and independently, sometimes with limited cell reception.Communicate effectively with customers and property owners.Assist crews in the Santa Cruz or Sonoma area, ideally residing in these areas but connected to the San Diego team.Manage multiple fielding requests and plan daily schedules according to priorities.Essential SkillsStrong communication skills.Proficiency in data analysis and Microsoft Office Suite.Attention to detail and initiative.Understanding of construction, electrical principles, and blueprint reading.Experience in distribution design.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with IKE 4 GPS or Katapult is preferred.Proficiency with Google Earth Pro and Blue Beam Revu is advantageous.High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.Work EnvironmentThe role involves working in the field for long periods, requiring strong communication skills and safety consciousness. You will use equipment provided by the company, including a laptop with software, IKE4 GPS Device, and more. You must provide your own safe and reliable vehicle, closed-toe work boots, jeans, plain T-shirts, sunscreen, and daily water. The position requires being in San Diego, with the opportunity to work from home 1-2 days per week. Fieldwork will take place 3-4 days per week, with potential travel to project sites throughout the state and beyond. The work environment demands the ability to lift and carry fire equipment weighing 50-60 lbs.
