Job Title: Field Engineer

Job Description

Our client on the Surrey/Langley Skytrain Project is seeking a Field Engineer to join their team. This individual will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with engineering standards, codes, and specifications, providing support to project management, sub-trades, and site teams.

Responsibilities

Collaborate daily with project crews to review production schedules and confirm availability of materials, equipment, and resources.Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedules, and crews as required.Work with construction crews and engineering leads to plan field layout and resolve site-level coordination needs.Collect, interpret, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material data, and project information to ensure compliance with quality and contract requirements.Evaluate daily production, schedule performance, and budget projections, ensuring accurate tracking of project progress.Identify risks related to materials, processes, or equipment and escalate early to protect schedule and cost.Provide technical input into project work plans, sequencing, and scheduling.Review project specifications for quality control at all stages of construction.Initiate and manage required inspections, certificates, and technical documentation.Coordinate cost coding with finance and accounting teams for tracking employee time, equipment, materials, and subcontractor usage.Initiate and manage required permits ahead of field execution.Notify team members and management of schedule shifts and recommend solutions to maintain progress.Document daily activities using company-approved systems and technology.Prepare and remit accurate quantity reporting aligned to project cost requirements.Complete project close-out documentation, reconciling checklists with owners and field crews at project completion.Perform additional assignments as directed by management.

Essential Skills

3–5 years of experience as a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator in heavy civil or project engineering environments.Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a relevant technical discipline.Strong working knowledge of construction equipment, construction methods, drawings, specifications, materials, and applicable standards.Proficiency with construction-related software such as Primavera, AutoCAD, SAP, or similar tools.Strength in core skill areas: Coordination, Analysis, Technical, Planning, Documentation.

Environmental health and safety knowledge.Health and safety expertise.Civil engineering skills.CSO certification.Safety coordination experience.

The Surrey Langley SkyTrain Project offers a dynamic work environment focused on regional mobility. As part of a major rapid transit expansion, the project includes new stations, utility relocations, and integration with existing transit systems. Employees have the opportunity to turn permanent and continue onto new projects after the project duration. This is an excellent opportunity to work on some of British Columbia's top projects.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, BC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $83.00 - $83.00/hr.

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in Vancouver,BC.
