The expected salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000 depending on experience

Tutor Perini Civil-East is seeking a Field Engineer for our Manhattan Jail project site in New York City.

Position Summary
The Field Engineer supports the project team in the planning, layout, coordination, and execution of civil construction activities for a bus terminal project. This role is responsible for field layout, quantity tracking, coordination with subcontractors, and ensuring work is performed in accordance with contract documents, schedules, and quality requirements.
Job Description:
Field Engineering & Layout
Prepare and submit Construction Work Plans and Safe Work Plans
Prepare engineering drawings and shop drawings
Review coordinate Work Plans and Shop Drawings with Subcontractors
Construction Support
Assist the Superintendent with daily field operations and work planning.
Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure work aligns with drawings and specifications.
Review construction drawings and RFIs; assist in identifying discrepancies or constructability issues.
Support sequencing of work to maintain schedule milestones.
Documentation & Reporting
Track quantities installed and assist with quantity takeoffs and production reporting.
Maintain daily reports, inspection logs, and as-built documentation.
Assist with submittals, RFIs, and field change documentation.
Support progress photos and field records.
Quality & Safety
Monitor work to ensure compliance with project quality standards and specifications.
Participate in inspections with owners, engineers, and inspectors.
Promote and enforce jobsite safety requirements and company safety policies.
Coordination & Communication
Interface with project engineers, superintendents, inspectors, and design professionals.
Coordinate with utility companies, transit agencies, and local authorities as required.
Support turnover and closeout activities, including punch lists and as-built drawings.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field from an accredited institution.
3 years of experience in civil construction (field or internship experience acceptable).
Familiarity with civil/site construction including earthwork, utilities, concrete, and paving.
Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and schedules.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or field layout software preferred.
Familiarity with surveying equipment and construction means and methods.
Experience on transportation infrastructure projects (bus terminals, transit facilities, rail, airports).
Exposure to public agency work (DOT, transit authorities).
Knowledge of inspection and testing requirements for civil work
Excellent written and verbal skills.
