Field Data Engineer
Field Data Engineer   Job Description Summary: + The Field Data Engineer will work in small teams with minimal supervision and own end-to-end execution of high-streak projects supporting the USTRANSCOM Global Bulk Fuel mission. You will engage with off-site developer teams to build bulk fuel analysis tools. Government Secret Clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI required   Roles & Responsibilities:   + Go on-site / work in restricted environments to diagnose data issues across government systems + Ingest, clean, reconcile, and validate messy operational data (often incomplete, contradictory, or delayed) + Build repeatable pipelines + scripts for one-off “fire drill” analyses and long-term sustainment + Translate operator questions into concrete datasets, metrics, and dashboards + Work with system owners, security teams, and stakeholders to obtain data access and document data provenance + Create “operationally durable” artifacts: runbooks, checks, monitoring, data dictionaries, and handoff docs Requirements:   + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field + 8 years of experience in data engineering or a related role + Strong engineering background, preferred in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics + Experience building and operating data pipelines from APIs in real-world environments: secure auth (tokens/certs), network constraints (proxies/air-gapped workflows), robust failure handling, and clear lineage/provenance for sensitive data + Demonstrate empathy for end users by proactively considering how data changes, tooling updates, and technical decisions affect workflows, reliability, and trust, with ability to communicate impacts clearly + Strong programming skills in languages such as Python/Java/Typescript + SQL with proven ability to build reliable data workflows in constrained environments + Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals, and comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives and direct iteration with operational end-users + Proven ability to operate in ambiguous, high-constraint environments (limited documentation, limited access, changing requirements) + Willingness and interest to travel as needed + Experience with logistics, sustainment, aviation, or readiness analysis is a plus  Eligibility Requirements:   + • DoD SECRET Clearance with eligibility for TS/SCI + This role is restricted to U.S. person(s) (ie., U.S. citizens, permanent residents and other protected individuals under the immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3))    Location:    + Scott AFB, on-site Who We Are:   D&G is one of the fastest growing companies in the Washington-DC area and honored to be named one of the “Best Places to Work” in the nation.
