Job Title: Fiber Spinning Operator
Job Description

As a Fiber Spinning Operator, you will work under the guidance of the Plant Manager and Fabrication Coordinator to manage the Generon module fabrication processes. Your role is crucial in ensuring that modules are produced safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will contribute significantly to minimizing operating costs while adhering to federal, state, and local regulations.

ResponsibilitiesEnsure a safe work environment by understanding and practicing all plant policies, safety standards, rules, and procedures. Address unsafe conditions promptly or notify the Fabrication Coordinator if unable to do so.Complete all module fabrication operations, including bundle preparation, tubesheet formation, module assembly, patching, coating, drying, testing, and shipping as directed by the Fabrication Coordinator.Perform quality control on raw materials using gel timers.Interact with PLCs to gather data and evaluate process operations, ensuring all critical process variables are within acceptable ranges. Notify Fabrication Coordinator of any deviations.Understand regulatory requirements for hazardous waste handling, air permits, and spill reporting. Report deviations from permit conditions to the Fabrication Coordinator immediately.Recognize when fabrication equipment requires repair or maintenance and communicate this information to the Fabrication Coordinator for maintenance scheduling.Identify opportunities for cost savings, quality, or safety improvements in the module fabrication area and communicate these to the Plant Manager using a process improvement form.Collaborate with the Fabrication Coordinator and plant support engineers to develop and revise standard operating procedures as required.Assist in training new operators and communicate process information in logbooks for evaluation by other operators and engineers.Participate actively in monthly communication meetings.Essential SkillsProduction experienceGeneral labor skillsMechanical background in manufacturingWillingness to learn new skillsQuality control expertiseForklift operationAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentExperience in manufacturing environmentsAbility to show up on timeWhy Work Here

Work Environment

The work environment is a manufacturing setting that is generally not very loud, with temperatures varying based on outside weather. The facility spans 80k square feet, divided into sections including the Loom, Warehouse, Mod Fab, and office areas. You will be working in the Mod Fab section. The facility features security gates and is shared with Dow Chemical, necessitating a strict no-smoking policy within its premises. The schedule typically runs from 6 am to 2 pm, Monday to Friday, with some overtime available.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburg, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
