What you will do in this role
The Financial Crime Compliance Analyst in the automotive industry is responsible for ensuring that the company complies with all relevant laws and regulations related to financial crime, such as anti-money laundering (AML), fraud prevention, and know your customer (KYC) requirements. The role involves analyzing financial transactions, customer behavior, and company practices to identify and mitigate risks related to financial crimes, particularly in vehicle financing, leasing, and sales.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Crime Detection & Prevention:
Transaction Monitoring:
Review and analyze financial transactions (e.g., vehicle loans, leases, payments, and financing) to identify suspicious activity or patterns indicative of money laundering or fraud.Use advanced transaction monitoring systems and software to flag unusual or high-risk transactions for further investigation.Analyze customer behavior, including purchase history and payment patterns, to detect potentially fraudulent activities.Fraud Risk Assessment:
Investigate instances of suspected fraud, including false documentation, identity theft, and fraudulent vehicle transactions.Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., legal, finance, sales) to assess and mitigate fraud risks related to financing, leasing, and car sales.Conduct background checks and review documentation provided by customers or dealers for any signs of fraud or misrepresentation.Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance:
Ensure that the company’s financial activities comply with AML regulations, particularly in relation to vehicle purchases, financing, and leasing.Maintain and update customer Know Your Customer (KYC) profiles, ensuring that all necessary identification and verification documents are gathered and kept up to date.Assist with suspicious activity reporting (SAR) to relevant authorities if transactions or patterns indicate potential money laundering.Policy Development and Compliance Management:
Regulatory Adherence:
Stay informed on relevant financial crime laws, regulations, and industry standards, including AML, KYC, and fraud prevention policies specific to the automotive industry.Assist in the development and implementation of financial crime compliance policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements and best practices.Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities in the company’s financial operations, particularly related to vehicle financing and sales.Work closely with the risk and legal teams to develop and implement mitigation strategies for identified risks.Provide recommendations on improving processes and controls to prevent financial crime within the automotive financing and sales functions.Internal Audits and Reviews:
Perform internal audits of the company’s financial crime compliance efforts to ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations.Prepare detailed reports on compliance findings, including areas of concern, and recommend corrective actions.Assist in the preparation for external audits or regulatory examinations.Training and Awareness:
Employee Training:
Develop and conduct training sessions for employees on financial crime prevention, including recognizing red flags for money laundering and fraud.Ensure that all departments involved in vehicle financing, leasing, and sales are aware of and adhere to compliance policies and procedures.Provide guidance to sales, finance, and customer service teams on identifying and handling suspicious transactions.Customer Awareness:
Assist in customer communication regarding the importance of financial crime prevention measures, particularly when new or high-risk customers are involved.Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to ensure transparent customer communications around compliance measures (e.g., KYC requirements).Reporting and Documentation:
Regulatory Reporting:
Prepare and file reports for regulatory bodies as required, including suspicious activity reports (SARs), transaction reports, and compliance updates.Maintain records of compliance activities, investigations, and reports for auditing purposes.Keep track of changes in regulations and update internal processes as needed to remain compliant.Compliance Reporting:
Prepare regular reports on the effectiveness of financial crime prevention measures, incidents of non-compliance, and ongoing risk mitigation efforts.Provide detailed analysis and recommendations to senior management regarding the company’s financial crime compliance posture.Skills and Qualifications:
Familiarity with AML laws, KYC regulations, fraud detection practices, and industry-specific financial crime challenges.Strong analytical skills, with the ability to investigate and interpret complex financial data.Knowledge of financial crime detection systems (e.g., Actimize, SAS, ACI).Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and presenting findings.Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Strong knowledge of financial crime compliance regulations and best practices.Ethical, with a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity.Proactive and able to identify and solve compliance issues before they become problems.Comfortable working independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.What's in it for you
