We are looking for a Farm Maintenance Technician to perform hands-on repairs, maintain equipment, and recommend improvements to boost efficiency. You'll also support farm operations with barn renovations, equipment installation, and system replacements. The Farm Maintenance Technician has primary accountability for analyzing equipment failures, troubleshooting and diagnosing problems, performing hands-on repairs, providing technical support, and documenting repairs and maintenance work, including any equipment changes. This role also supports farm operations by assisting with animal care responsibilites, barn renovations, installing and assembling equipment like feeders and penning, and replacing roofing and feed systems as needed.
The position is located in our Carlyle, Saskatchewan location. The salary for this position is $24/hour CAD.
You Will
Core Responsibilities
Maintain inventory levels of commonly used parts and suppliesMaintain accurate record‑keeping within all software platforms, ensuring records are updated weeklyAssist with implementing maintenance plans to support weekly, monthly, and annual departmental goalsSupport budgeting activities by:Ordering parts and suppliesHelping maintain adequate inventoryAssisting with CapEx projects as needed
Maintenance & Technical Support
Provide hands‑on assistance and technical support to farm employees and management, including but not limited to:Assembly and installation of feedersAssisting with barn demolition and renovation projectsHelping replace full tin roofs on barnsParticipating in finisher penning renovations (removal of existing penning and installation of new systems)Assisting with replacement of PVC feed lines with stainless steel feed lines
Facility & Grounds Upkeep
Maintain seasonal rodent‑control protocols using established bait‑station proceduresManage weed control, including the safe operation of spraying tools and herbicide applicationPerform snow removal using heavy machinery during inclement weatherSafely and effectively operate small hand tools and power toolsSafely operate farm machinery such as ATVs, skid steers, and tractors with attachments for:Renovation projectsMowingRoof repairsGeneral groundskeepingAssist in maintaining equipment before, during, and after use
Problem-Solving & Emergency Response
Use sound judgment to identify and resolve day‑to‑day technical or operational issuesReview farm production schedules, workflows, and systems to understand daily operational activitiesAssist with implementing emergency‑response protocols for system malfunctionsHelp train staff to identify emergencies and follow proper response procedures
Communication & Teamwork
Communicate effectively with teammates and supervisors to support shared goals and smooth operations
Animal Care Responsibilities
Ensure adherence to the company’s animal‑care standards, including:Providing an environment that meets animals’ needsEnsuring access to clean water and high‑quality feedSupporting humane handling and treatment of animalsAssisting with monitoring animal health and following euthanasia protocols when necessary
Compliance & Safety
