Opportunity Overview We are seeking a highly capable and cross-functional Factory Application Engineer with a strong foundation in electromechanical systems. This role serves as a critical technical liaison between product development, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams. This role focuses on optimizing factory processes, supporting product integration, and ensuring seamless deployment of engineering solutions in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Factory Applications Engineer Duties & Responsibilities + Develop and execute test plans and validation procedures for Teradyne test equipment, ensuring product quality and system performance. + Provide systems-level insight during product development, influencing design decisions with a customer-centric perspective. + Perform root cause analysis and assist in debugging issues across mechanical and electrical domains. + Deliver technical support during product demos and customer evaluations. + Stay current with evolving technologies and advocate for innovative solutions. + Collaborate on the design and integration of automated test systems, including mechanical fixtures and electrical interfaces. + Analyze and optimize thermal, electrical, and mechanical performance of integrated systems. + Develop and maintain tools and fixtures for test automation, analysis, and diagnostics (basic scripting experience is a plus, not mandatory). + Create and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, test procedures, and troubleshooting guides. + Ability to travel to customer sites and manufacturing facilities as needed. Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Education + Preferred Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience. + 5+ years in Systems Engineering, Test Development, or Applications Engineering. + SolidWorks experience highly valued; ability to interpret and discuss mechanical designs. + Familiarity with thermal management, cooling strategies, and mechanical construction methods. + Strong technical vocabulary and working knowledge of mechanical components and systems (e.g., mechanisms, fluids, pneumatics, fabrication techniques). + Experience with instrumentation and automated test systems; familiarity with basic scripting (Python, C#, etc.) is a plus but not required. + Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. + Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% as required (domestic and international). This position is not open for international relocation. Ideally candidate is local in the bay area. Compensation: The base salary range for this role is $139,400- 223,100. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location. Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
