**Job Title: Facilities Technician 2** **Job Description** We are seeking an experienced Facilities Technician with a specialization in boiler operations to join our dynamic facilities management team. This role involves maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable operations of commercial boiler systems on a university campus. The position offers the opportunity to work with innovative mechanical systems while contributing to operational excellence and sustainability. **Responsibilities** + Operate and monitor boiler systems, including startup, shutdown, and real-time control adjustments to maintain optimal performance. + Perform comprehensive inspections of boilers, pumps, valves, and related mechanical equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. + Conduct advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex boiler system issues, coordinating with maintenance teams for major repairs. + Develop and maintain comprehensive preventive maintenance programs while executing routine maintenance tasks and minor repairs. + Monitor gauges, meters, and operational indicators to ensure systems operate within safety parameters and maintain detailed operational logs. + Manage water treatment systems and chemical feed equipment while participating in energy conservation efforts and system efficiency improvements. + Lead emergency response efforts for critical boiler system failures, responding promptly and effectively to ensure minimal disruption. **Essential Skills** + High school diploma or equivalent with technical school training in mechanical systems or related field. + Valid boiler operator license as required by state regulations with current certification. + Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in boiler operations and maintenance in commercial or industrial settings. + Strong technical knowledge of boiler systems, HVAC equipment, and related mechanical systems. + Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and mechanical drawings. + Proficiency in computerized control systems and basic computer applications for monitoring and reporting. + Physical capability to work in various environmental conditions, including confined spaces, heights, and exposure to high temperatures. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Additional certifications in HVAC, mechanical systems, or facilities management. + Experience with energy management systems and sustainability initiatives. + Knowledge of water treatment processes and chemical handling procedures. + Familiarity with building automation systems and advanced control technologies. + Experience leading or mentoring technical teams in facilities operations. + Experience in root cause analysis methodologies and continuous improvement processes. + Strong presentation skills with ability to communicate technical information to diverse audiences. **Why Work Here?** Join a team that values operational excellence and sustainability while providing an engaging work environment. The position involves working rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required. The work environment includes exposure to various environmental conditions, such as confined spaces and high temperatures **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract position based out of Tuskegee, AL. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
