Facilities Operations Coordinator

The Facility Operations Coordinator (FOC) supports the Facility Operations Manager in overseeing daily maintenance and facilities activities within the Distribution Center (DC). When possible, one FOC will be assigned per shift to provide consistent leadership and communication.

Major Activities & ResponsibilitiesShift Leadership & CoordinationAssigns, prioritizes, and monitors maintenance and facilities work orders, including Preventive Maintenance (PM), Corrective Maintenance (CM), safety inspections, and project tasks.Leads daily shift start-up and end-of-shift handoff processes, ensuring accurate communication of completed tasks, open issues, and downtime events.Facilities Operations & Technical SupportOversees equipment uptime, promptly escalating any critical path downtime over 30 minutes to the Facility Operations Manager.Coordinates vendor activity on-shift, ensuring compliance with company and OSHA safety rules.Provides hands-on technical support as needed, including troubleshooting and performing maintenance tasks.Supports project work such as equipment installations, building repairs, or safety improvements.Safety & CompliancePromotes and enforces adherence to all Michaels and OSHA safety requirements (PPE use, housekeeping, lockout/tagout, etc.).Ensures all facilities team members follow established procedures and policies.Monitors work areas for hazards and addresses or escalates issues immediately.

Team Support & DevelopmentServes as the shift’s point of contact for Operations, Loss Prevention, IT, and other departments needing Facilities support.Provides coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback on maintenance tasks and/or preventative maintenance to technicians and utility team members.Supports technician development by allowing time for hands-on training, encouraging best practices, and modeling professionalism in communication, attendance, and customer service.CMMS & ReportingEnsures all maintenance activity is recorded accurately in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Reviews parts usage, helps maintain accurate inventory counts, and ensures readiness of critical spares.Generates and reviews shift recap reports and supports KPI tracking for uptime, work completion, and safety compliance.Other DutiesParticipates in special projects, vendor audits, and capital project support as directed by the Facility Operations Manager.Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum RequirementsEducation & CertificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or degree preferred.OSHA, electrical, or maintenance certifications a plus.ExperienceMinimum 3–5 years of experience in distribution center facilities, maintenance, or related operations.Previous leadership experience (lead, coordinator, or equivalent) preferred.Working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, conveyance equipment).Skills & AbilitiesStrong communication skills with ability to lead cross-functional interactions.Demonstrated proficiency in CMMS systems and Microsoft Office applications.Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and work instructions.Problem-solving skills with urgency to address downtime and safety issues.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Physical & Environmental RequirementsFrequent lifting and carrying of 5–60 lbs.Frequent standing, walking, bending, and working at height.Moderate noise levels due to conveyors/sortation systems.Exposure to cleaning agents, lubricants, and occasional fumes.Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed

Total Base Pay Range for this Position:

$32.20 - $39.10
