Job Title: FabricatorJob Description

The Fabricator is responsible for creating and constructing patterns and guides as templates for metal cutting, assembling, fitting, and welding metal sections and plates, and installing fabricated components in the final products. The Fabricator will use a variety of light and heavy machinery to make necessary cuts and assemble the fabricated components into complete units.

ResponsibilitiesCreate and construct patterns and guides as templates for metal cutting.Operate light machinery, including brake presses, shears, cutting torches, and grinders.Layout reference points and patterns on heavy metals according to templates or blueprints.Assemble, fit, and weld metal sections and plates to create complete units or subunits.Install fabricated components in the final product.Preheat workpieces to render them malleable.Monitor the quality of fabrication and production.Set up and operate heavy machine tools, such as radial drill, end mill, and edge planer.Monitor materials usage and report on any material issues.Maintain a working knowledge of changes in fabricating compliance, practices, and techniques.Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations, and participate in identifying hazards.Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor.Comply with all rules, regulations, protocols, and established metrics.Analyze blueprints and engineering drawings to assess materials needed and plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal.Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.Effectively and efficiently prioritize daily work.Accurately complete work orders and time cards.Cross-train on other functions at the facility as needed.Essential Skills5+ years of Fabrication experienceRed Seal certificationProficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints or fabrication drawingsExperience with steel and flux core welding, including flux core MIG, FCAW, SMAW, stick weldingCWB ticketExperience with mild steel, fitting, and grindingAdditional Skills & QualificationsForklift experienceConfined space trainingKnowledge in class productionMarine experienceWhy Work Here?

Work Environment

Work both indoors in confined spaces and outdoors, sometimes at heights of up to 25 feet. Utilize wire feed welding machines. Dress code includes steel-toed safety boots, welding helmet, and safety glasses or goggles. Basic tools like a chipping hammer should be owned by the candidate. Work hours are from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with potential for overtime, and travel to off-site locations may be required.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
