What You’ll Be Doing
The Executive Director for U.S. Treasury Trading will sit within the U.S. Treasury team as a part of the Fixed Income and Currencies group. He/she works to execute transactions within the US Region’s trading floor.
How You’ll Succeed
Make markets in U.S. Treasury bills and notes for internal and external inquires
Responsible for generating revenues and tracking P&L for the team and the desk
Communicate desk ideas and views both internally and externally via daily written pieces as well as through direct contact with accounts
Contribute to trade idea generation, technical analysis and historical modeling for the desk
Identify and execute proprietary trading positions that best utilize desk balance sheet and risk limits in order to generate PNL
Work with our global sales team to strengthen relationship with our global clients and with our global trading team
Work with our technology and quant teams to improve our pricing models
Who You Are
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (particularly verbal) with particular ability to translate technical complex issues. Excellent negotiation and mediation skills are highly desirable.
Requirement to liaise with senior trading room business managers on sensitive issues relating to the profitability of transactions and with respect to ensuring the continuing adherence to credit and market policies and procedures.
Knowledge of trading room activities, specifically derivative products and a familiarity with a trading environment.
Requirement to anticipate the impact of changing markets (FX rates, interest rates, credit spreads etc.) on transactional credit exposure and required returns and to initiate and oversee the necessary analysis.
Knowledge of credit and market risk terminology and the associated credit and market management processes.
Practical risk analysis experience.
Familiarity with methodologies for quantifying and analyzing market and credit risks, good knowledge of relevant systems/programming issues.
Comprehensive understanding of key finance/investment management concepts as well as strong skills in analytical research and pricing/statistical modeling.
Strong analytic, problem-solving, conceptualization and strategic thinking skills.
Ability to work independently within a matrix reporting environment, but also capable of functioning as part of a team; open to new approaches/ideas.
Excellent time management skills: ability to effectively manage multiple projects of varying complexity. Provide efficient response to time sensitive demands.
Ability to perform under pressure.
PC, programming and database skills. Knowledge of VB, C++ or Bloomberg API would be helpful

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary of $275,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
