The Executive Director, Clinical Health Services will report directly to the Chief Clinical Officer and provide strategic direction to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of high-quality healthcare services. This role oversees initiatives that coordinate patient care, optimize nursing workflows, implement quality improvement programs, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. The Executive Director will collaborate across multiple departments to drive operational excellence and enhance patient outcomes in clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the planning, implementation, and execution of clinical health services operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and alignment with organizational objectives.

Develop and implement clinical protocols, timelines, and budgets to support strategic goals while maintaining regulatory standards.

Prepare and deliver accurate, detailed reports for senior leadership, vendors, and clinical strategists to ensure data integrity and informed decision-making.

Approve project terms for study sites and vendors, oversee workflows, and evaluate performance to ensure compliance and achievement of clinical objectives.

Define and coordinate strategies to establish high-level operational goals that align with development plans and organizational priorities.

Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team focused on improving clinical health services and meeting corporate goals and program deliverables.

Communicate effectively with senior managers and stakeholders to ensure plans, execution, and budgets remain aligned with organizational objectives.

Establish processes for resource allocation and develop methodologies for analyzing and reporting team performance data to leadership.

Drive continuous improvement through strategic reviews, ensuring compliance and maintaining high-performance standards across all clinical operations.

Qualifications:

The candidate will have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, and be able to be highly productive in a dynamic, collaborative environment. This position offers broad exposure to all aspects of the company’s business, as well as significant interaction with all the business leaders. The candidate will be expected to have the following key attributes:

15+ years of progressive experience in delegated health plan functions including utilization management, care management, network, claims, and/or delegation compliance, with at least 5+ years in executive leadership roles demonstrating operational excellence and strategic impact.

Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead high-performing teams, drive consensus, and deliver results in complex organizational environments.

Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate options and select the most effective course of action.

Adaptability & Time Management: Exceptional multitasking abilities with flexibility to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Communication & Collaboration: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage tactfully with customers, community partners, and internal stakeholders.

Execution & Delivery: Expertise in planning, implementing, and supporting initiatives that achieve organizational goals.

Clinical Knowledge: Deep understanding of care transitions, clinical workflows, and resources available for patients in diverse healthcare settings.

Digital Literacy: Advanced proficiency in digital tools and technologies to support operational efficiency and data integrity.

Ethics & Compliance: Ability to handle sensitive information responsibly and maintain strict confidentiality.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required.  Health Care Management Certification required.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$184,112.00 - $396,550.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
