Provo City is seeking a full-time Evidence and Property Supervisor to oversee the functional and technical operations of the Provo Police Department evidence and property rooms. This position requires high levels of expertise, precision, and responsibility in police protocols and organizational detail. What is the compensation package?
Pay Range: (G30) $30.95 - $42.67 per hour (depending on experience)

+ Oversee the lawful collection, storage, release, and disposal of evidence while ensuring strict chain of custody compliance with laws, regulations, and policy.
+ Maintain the security, integrity, and controlled access of the evidence room and its contents.
+ Conduct and oversee periodic inventories and audits of evidence, property, equipment, and uniforms to ensure accountability and accuracy.
+ Ensure all evidence and property is accurately documented, entered into records management systems, and supported by correct reports.
+ Develop, review, and enforce evidence and property policies, procedures, and best practices.
+ Provide training and technical guidance to evidence personnel, sworn staff, and other department members on evidence handling and booking procedures.
+ Oversee procurement, storage, issuance, tracking, and disposal of department equipment, uniforms, and other property.
+ Supervise assigned personnel, including scheduling, workload coordination, performance evaluation, and corrective action.
+ Inspect work for accuracy and efficiency, and resolve operational issues, discrepancies, and technical concerns.
+ Testify in court when subpoenaed regarding evidence handling, custody, and procedures.
What are the minimum requirements?
+ High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
+ Four (4) years of experience with evidence management, inventory management, or similar duties.
+ Valid, lawful Driver License.
+ Successful completion of an evidence management course sponsored by the FBI, IAPE, POST, or other recognized agency.
+ Direct experience in a police evidence unit is strongly preferred.
+ Demonstrated ability to type 40 WPM preferred.
What is the selection process?
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held February 11, 2026. Job solicitation may be closed at that time if sufficient qualified applicants to proceed with a competitive selection process have been received. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
