**Job Summary**

Assist with the coordination of garden themed weddings, corporate parties, and other private events. Work with an exciting team of new and seasoned event staff gaining experience with event coordination, connecting with local businesses, and learning about the botanical exhibits. Grow as a leader, make new friends and find mentors all while working in an outdoor garden setting!
Red Butte Garden offers the opportunity to work at a beautiful botanic garden and engage with plant-loving communities. Work hours can be semi-flexible to school or other jobs. Many events take place during evenings and weekends. Red Butte Garden is accessible through multiple public transit options. Several bus routes serve Research Park and the University Medical Center, and the Trax Red Line provides nearby access, followed by a short walk or an on-demand University campus shuttle. The campus shuttle’s Sunnyside Route offers direct service to Red Butte Garden.

**Responsibilities**
**Events Assistant I, II**
+ Assist with the setup and breakdown of event venues and equipment
+ Maintain privacy and restricted access to event spaces during functions
+ Provide golf cart transportation service for guests as needed
+ Direct guests and vendors to appropriate locations
+ Assist vendors with transporting supplies to designated areas
+ Perform light cleaning duties in venues before and after events
**Events Assistant III**
+ Understand and enforce rental contract policies during events
+ Serve as the primary point of contact for customer service–related issues in the absence of the Events Manager
+ Provide direction to catering staff and clients’ vendors regarding cleanup responsibilities
+ Enforce alcohol service policies with bartenders and clients
+ Report facility issues or maintenance needs to the Events Manager
+ Ensure part-time staff receive required breaks
+ Greet, support, and provide direction to volunteers during assigned shifts
+ Maintain a flexible schedule; evenings and weekends may be required
+ Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in an event-related role with Red Butte Garden
**Working Environment**
+ This position requires frequent bending, lifting, walking, and working outdoors in all weather conditions
+ Venue spaces and surrounding areas may be loud and include large crowds
+ Events may include an open bar, and alcohol may be present
**Minimum Qualifications**
**EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT :** 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
**Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:**
**Events Assistant, I:** Requires little to no related experience.
**Events Assistant, II:** Requires at least 1 year of related experience.
**Events Assistant, III :** Requires 3+ years of related experience.
**Preferences**
Experience in customer service roles within the hospitality industry.
