Are you passionate about ensuring the safety and well-being of the public? The Health Occupations Program is seeking dedicated professionals to join our team as Investigators. In this vital role, you will help regulate practitioners of various allied healthcare fields—such as speech language pathologists, audiologists, hearing instrument dispensers, but focusing mainly on body art technicians, and providers at temporary events and unlicensed alternative health practices. As an Investigator, you will play a key role in protecting public health by thoroughly investigating complaints, evaluating evidence, and recommending appropriate disciplinary actions. You will also have the opportunity to negotiate settlements and enforce regulations to ensure practitioners meet professional standards and provide safe, competent services. Key Responsibilities: + Receive, evaluate, and investigate written and oral complaints to determine if violations of state or federal laws and regulations have occurred. + Conduct interviews with practitioners and witnesses to gather evidence. + Analyze evidence to make disciplinary determinations and monitor compliance. + Perform inspections of body art establishments and temporary events across the state, including overnight travel. + Participate in advisory councils and provide technical assistance to internal teams and external stakeholders. + Contribute to quality improvement initiatives to enhance investigation, inspection, and enforcement procedures. Positions will be filled in the following MDH District Office locations based on top candidates: St. Paul, St. Cloud, Duluth, Rochester, Marshall, Bemidji, Fergus Falls, Mankato.** **Candidates must be available for overnight travel. Reimbursement for authorized business travel expenses is provided according to bargaining unit guidelines. A State vehicle is provided to conduct inspections and investigations.** **The majority of work hours are between 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday with occasional overtime that may occur with little advance notice,** **candidates must be available for occasional weekend work and overnight travel.** **Minimum Qualifications** **_To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held._** + Three (3) years of professional experience involving regulatory compliance inspections and/or investigations relating to health care, civil, criminal, insurance or fraud procedures and/or guidelines. **Additional qualifications to be assessed during the interview process:** + Human relations and problem-solving skills to achieve effective working relationships with business owners and technicians being studied. + Communications skills sufficient to communicate clearly with division leadership, community partners and individuals/businesses we regulate. A degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, healthcare administration, public policy or closely related degree will substitute for experience as follows: + Master's Degree - 18 months + Bachelor's Degree - One year (12 months) + Associate's degree - 6 months **Preferred Qualifications** + One (1) year of experience in the area of regulatory compliance. + Paralegal or investigator experience working with civil investigation techniques and/or investigating sexual misconduct andboundaries violations. + Experience managing multiple projects or case management. + Experience reviewing and understanding State and/or federal laws, rules, and regulations. + Experience analyzing data and determining its relevance. **Additional Requirements** + This position requires successful completion of a background and reference check. + This employment does not require a valid driver’s license, but it does demand travel, which the candidate will be responsible for meeting.
