Complete and assemble bids for both private and public dry utility construction projects with various values. VCI is an underground and aerial contractor that specializes in full-service installation of “dry” utilities. This includes design, installation and maintenance of voice, video, and data transmission systems. Connecting you to great benefits + Weekly Paychecks + Paid Time Off, Parental Leave, and Holidays + Insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance) + 401(k) w/ Company Match + Stock Purchase Plan + Education Reimbursement + Legal Insurance What you’ll do as a Estimator I + Maintain and develop strong working relationships with customers. + Attend pre-bid meetings / job walks / investigate project sites. + Review and understand bid documents including plans, specifications, technical provisions addenda, bid documents, and geotechnical reports. + Perform accurate material take-offs. + Request quotes from potential subcontractors and vendors. + Estimate labor and equipment resources for job completion. + Coordinate subcontractors and negotiate purchase orders. + Review completed bid with Chief Estimator and Vice President as necessary. + Assist in obtaining permits and licenses. + Develop and Prepare Project Submittals. + Develop and Coordinate Production Tracking. + Host Project Turnover Meeting. + Prepare Project Schedules. + Provide Information for Foreman’s Packs. + Change order tracking and negotiation. What you’ll need + To be 18 years of age or older + Authorization to work in the United States for this company + 5 to 7 years’ experience in underground dry utility pipeline construction. + Knowledge and Experience in Bid2Win (B2W) a plus. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. (Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project) + Valid California Driver’s License. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both written and oral forms (bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus). + Demonstrates a strong capacity to quickly adapt by learning new skills and unlearning outdated ones. Additional qualifications (if applicable) + Ability to apply logical principles and thinking to solve problems and make effective decisions. + Willing to perform work that supports the values, quality, goals and objectives of the company. + Experience in the development and construction of other telecom/data infrastructures domestically or abroad is a plus. Physical abilities & exposures + Routinely: Work alone in remote locations, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds. + Occasionally: Work in confined spaces, use ladder, keyboard and mouse.
