The Estimator plays a crucial role in supporting various preconstruction efforts and leading specific bid initiatives. This position requires a strong foundation in construction management and estimation, with a focus on providing accurate and detailed cost assessments.
ResponsibilitiesSupport multiple preconstruction efforts and lead specific bid efforts.Understand the roles and responsibilities of project team members including Project Engineers, Managers, Administrators, Superintendents, and Executives.Have a basic understanding of CPM scheduling software and schedule creation.Familiarize with building methods, logistics, and constructability issues, and provide value analysis during design phases.Analyze subcontractor proposals to identify scope gaps and exclusions and evaluate cost implications.Develop subcontractor scopes for bid day and foster productive subcontractor relationships.Produce estimates at the Construction Document phase using subcontractor input, historical data, and reasonable allowances.Track, analyze, and explain cost differences between estimates.Research unit pricing, quantify materials, and anticipate missing scope in conceptual documents.Generate cost-saving ideas based on drawings and specifications.Develop and manipulate spreadsheets using historic data and current market conditions.Understand project budget components, general conditions, overhead, fee structure, and contingency.Manage and communicate subcontract scopes and related contract exhibits.Assist in creating effective proposal responses to RFPs.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.3–5 years of estimating experience with a General Contractor.Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and cloud storage platforms.Understanding of scheduling software and construction management systems.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Strong time management and organizational abilities.OSHA 30 certification; First Aid/CPR certified.Additional Skills & QualificationsProficiency with software such as Bluebeam and Primavera.Experience in commercial or multifamily construction management.Knowledge of cost estimation, bidding, preconstruction, and pricing.Work EnvironmentThis position operates within an office setting, requiring attendance five days a week. Employees will engage with subcontractors within the Nashville market. The company is employee-owned, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented workplace culture.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $57.69 - $72.11/hr.
