This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.
**This position will provide statewide technical support and consultation with district staff to control erosion, manage stormwater, and establish vegetation during the design, construction, and maintenance of transportation infrastructure.** **You will work with internal and external stakeholders to reduce environmental impacts and ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental laws, rules, and policies.**
**This position will occasionally travel throughout Minnesota experiencing weekly long days, occasional overnights.**

**Minimum Qualifications**
Three (3) years of professional experience in the areas noted below:
NOTE: A bachelor’s degree in soil science, plant science, environmental science, biosystems engineering, or related field may substitute for 1 year of this experience.
+ Experience applying erosion and stormwater management practices sufficient to review plans and construction projects and recommend effective and practical methods of protecting the environment and complying with applicable regulations.
+ Experience interpreting National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Construction Stormwater Permit requirements sufficient to evaluate the compliance of construction plans and projects.
+ Communication skills (oral and written) sufficient to clearly and persuasively explain complex technical information, environmental permit requirements, erosion and stormwater management methods, and vegetation establishment to MnDOT staff and contractors.
+ Experience with desktop applications (word processing, spreadsheets, database management) sufficient to analyze data, produce and manage data, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and create reports.
+ A valid Minnesota class D license
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in soil science, plant science, environmental science, biosystems engineering, or related field.
+ Experience dealing with regulatory agencies such as DNR, MPCA, FHWA, COE, MDA, BWSR, and watershed districts, and the ability to maintain productive working relationships among those agencies.
+ Working experience with highway construction and methods sufficient to predict the impact of those methods on erosion and stormwater management.
+ Experience with the planting and establishment of native and non-native grasses and forbs.
+ Research experience in soil erosion control and vegetation establishment
+ Ability to identify common native and non-native plants, including invasive species, at the adult and seedling stages.
+ Thorough knowledge of Mn/DOT’s policies, programs, and procedures.
+ Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control
