Equipment Mechanic
**Job Title: Equipment Mechanic** Job Description Perform routine maintenance and repairs on construction equipment and vehicles, including excavators, bulldozers, graders, and trucks. Diagnose mechanical issues and determine the best course of action for repairs. Conduct inspections to ensure equipment is in safe and optimal working condition. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed. Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide on-site repairs as needed. Collaborate with the construction team to ensure minimal downtime of equipment. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing duties. Stay informed about the latest industry trends and advancements in equipment technology. Responsibilities + Dismantle machines or equipment to examine parts for defects. + Replace defective parts with new ones or repair them using various kinds of metal. + Assemble and test operate machines to verify correction of malfunction and confirm they meet manufacturer's specifications. + Overhaul gas or diesel engines. + Perform diagnostics using computers. + Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills + Ability to diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines. + Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and brake systems. + Use of diagnostic tools and software, such as Caterpillar ET & SIS. + Experience in performing scheduled maintenance on heavy equipment like dozers, cranes, excavators, and trucks. + Skill in rebuilding components, welding, and replacing valves, pipes, and solenoids. Additional Skills & Qualifications + One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school in diesel mechanics or a related field, OR 2 years of related experience and/or training. + Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. + Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain within one year. + Clean driving record. + Customer service and teamwork skills. + Mathematical skills. + Willingness and ability to work a 2nd shift schedule. + Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed. + Ability to meet physical requirements relevant to the job. Work Environment The role involves physical demands such as standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, climbing, balancing, and crawling. You will frequently stoop, crouch, kneel, and use your hands to finger, feel, and grasp. Occasionally, you may lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Expect a noisy work environment at times and work outdoors in all weather conditions. Hours regularly exceed 40 in a week and 8 in a day. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Neiffer, Pennsylvania. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
