Job Title EOP Career Peer Mentor Department Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Office Job Description/Duties An EOP Career Peer Mentor is a paraprofessional working alongside professional staff in the Educational Opportunities office. The EOP Career Peer Mentor helps students with resumes and professional development, but will also have the opportunity to present to groups on campus and complete projects tailored to their interests!

This is a semester-long internship open to ALL majors, but it may be particularly interesting to those interested in business, human resources, psychology, student affairs, and writing! This is a 3 credit internship for the semester. Applications will be reviewed and interviews conducted on a rolling basis.

Job Duties: Meet one-on-one with EOP students for resume critiques and professional development guidance during CPM office hours that will be established upon hire (CPM will work in-person in the EOP Office) Conduct presentations on basic resume/cover letter writing skills and other professional development topics for EOP students Gain proficiency in interviewing techniques, basic job search strategies, and demonstrate a professional online presence Participate in events, workshops, and activities as available Complete projects that promote career and professional development for Cortland EOP students



Job Expectations: Represent EOP positively and professionally in the office, online, and across campus Demonstrate maturity and responsibility Willingness to learn, grow, and support other students in their career preparation
Requirements: Must be available for 8 hours a week and for additional training hours TBD during the spring 2026 semester GPA of 2.5 and above
Essential Skills: Interpersonal and written communication Possess a growth mindset Ability to work as part of a team Ability to work 1:1 with peers with professionalism and integrity Microsoft Office and Google Suite proficiency is a plus

EOP Office Cornish 109 Required Qualifications Must be a SUNY Cortland Student Experience conducting resume reviews Verbal communication skills and the ability to present effectively in both small and large groups Excellent written communication skills and the ability to effectively edit documents Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suite Established experience working with EOP students and other underrepresented student groups
