Want to spend your summer in the great outdoors, learning all about the diverse services that Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI), a Davey company, offers? Each summer, we host a class of talented individuals pursuing degrees in the engineering, environmental, and science fields, and we are currently seeking great interns to join our Southwest Virginia team for summer 2026.
Interns will have the opportunity to work hands-on with WSSI’s staff and learn from their expertise in the environmental consulting industry. Interns will rotate through different departments including environmental science, environmental assessment and remediation, hazmat, and environmental compliance. Duties may include assisting with hazardous materials surveys and inspections for asbestos and lead, Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, soil and water sampling, facility compliance assessments, invasive plant control, vegetation monitoring, and erosion control.
Not only will you gain hands-on experience with our field staff, interns will also participate in educational sessions to learn about all of WSSI’s services across our various offices and disciplines. In-house training opportunities will also include plant identification and wetland delineation, and interns will work on their own plant identification project throughout the summer.
Applicants should be interested in wetland ecology as well as hazardous materials, and possess a strong work ethic with the desire to gain experience in different aspects of environmental consulting. This internship involves a large amount of outdoor work with rigorous physical labor and may occasionally involve working long hours. There may also be opportunities for overnight travel.
At least one year of undergraduate studies in a related field is required.
