Environmental Technician
Job Title: Environmental Technician Job Description We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Environmental Technician to join our environmental services team. This role focuses on conducting inspections and sampling for asbestos, lead-based paint, and other hazardous materials in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The ideal candidate is safety-minded, organized, and eager to grow within the environmental consulting field. Responsibilities + Conduct field inspections and collect samples of asbestos-containing materials (ACM), lead-based paint, and other environmental hazards. + Perform air monitoring during asbestos abatement and prepare accurate field documentation. + Utilize XRF analyzers, air pumps, and other sampling equipment in accordance with regulatory standards. + Maintain detailed field notes, chain-of-custody forms, and sample logs. + Assist in preparing technical reports, inspection summaries, and analytical data reports. + Comply with federal, state, and local regulations (EPA, OSHA, HUD, state DEP/DOH requirements). + Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, and clients while on-site. + Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and safe operation of field equipment. + Travel to job sites as needed; occasional evening or weekend work may be required. Essential Skills + Environmental science background. + 0-2 years of relevant field experience. + Ability to pass a drug and background check. + Valid driver's license. + Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or coursework in environmental science, industrial hygiene, or related field preferred. + Current certifications (or willingness to obtain) such as Asbestos Inspector, Asbestos Air Monitoring Technician, Lead Inspector, or Lead Risk Assessor. + Familiarity with asbestos and lead regulations (EPA, OSHA, HUD). + Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including construction sites and occupied buildings. + Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work on ladders or in confined spaces when required. Work Environment This role involves being on job sites 90% of the time, with the remaining 10% in the lab and office. The position requires travel to various job sites, and occasional evening or weekend work may be required. Employees receive 80 cents per mile for driving.
