Environmental Specialist

Position Summary

The Environmental Specialist is the primary point of contact for assigned Business Units (BUs) regarding day-to-day environmental compliance. This role is accountable for ensuring operational compliance with all applicable federal, state, and company environmental standards. The Specialist is responsible for inspections, testing, vendor coordination, and data integrity within internal systems, and is expected to manage and resolve issues independently while escalating only when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Own the daily environmental compliance relationship with assigned BUs; manage communication, issue resolution, and project updates.Oversee all regulatory inspections, testing failures, NOVs, and release detection activities.Coordinate with vendors to manage environmental work; ensure timely response, proper documentation, and resolution tracking.Maintain accurate and up-to-date site-level records in Titan and other platforms; ensure all required documentation is logged.Manage environmental projects including repipes, sump replacements, tank removals, and upgrades; oversee budgets, quotes, and approvals in alignment with policy.Act as subject matter expert for assigned states/jurisdictions; interpret and apply regulations accordingly.Participate in spill response rotation; lead follow-up and compliance documentation.Track trends and contribute to root cause analysis of recurring issues; recommend process improvements where applicable.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.Minimum 2–4 years of experience in environmental compliance or regulatory management.Familiarity with UST/AST systems, environmental testing methods, and regulatory reporting.Strong organizational and communication skills.Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
