Hatch is seeking a highly motivatedEnvironmental Scientist / EIT new graduate to join our Environment, People, and Place (EP&P) team, with interests in environmental and social impact assessments, urban planning and design, and community and indigenous engagement. Reporting to the Regional Director, EP&P, and receiving guidance and direction from project managers and other senior experts you will be working with, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with planners, designers, engineers, environmentalists, architects, scientists, biologists, and economists across our global offices, while working from one of our Mississauga, Vancouver, or Niagara Falls locations.

As the successful candidate, you will:
+ Contribute to baseline ecological or environmental studies, environmental assessments, environmental management strategies, and plans including research, report writing, field work, and stakeholder and regulatory consultation.
+ Collect and synthesize scientific literature, existing data sets and secondary source material for technical reports.
+ Identify potential environmental impacts caused by land use changes and recommend suitable mitigation strategies to avoid and / or reduce potential impacts.
+ Support permitting and approvals related to the natural environment (e.g., Environmental Protection Act, Fisheries Act, Impact Assessment Act)
+ Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of existing and emerging regulatory requirements, wildlife and vegetation assessment methodologies, and best practices.
+ Coordinate work with other environmental specialists (e.g., noise, air, archaeology, heritage, fisheries, terrestrial ecologists, etc.)
+ Deliver high-quality environmental services to agreed budgets and deadlines
You bring to the role:
+ A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Studies, Environmental Planning, Geography, or equivalent in a related discipline
+ 0-2 years of experience working in a fast-paced, consulting environment; experience working in the field is an asset
+ Knowledge of natural heritage policies, survey protocols, environmental legislation, and environmental and social impact assessment processes; knowledge of environmental and social due diligence is an asset
+ Flexibility to travel periodically
+ Proficiency in French is an advantage
+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills and demonstrated ability to develop personal networks and work collaboratively
+ Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and integrated team environment
+ Interest in continuous learning and commitment to personal accountability
+ Eligible to hold CAN-CISEC and MTO RAQs certification is an asset

+ Ability to think critically and creatively to create solutions for our clients’ toughest challenges
+ Quick learning and interest to take on new challenges
+ Collaboration and being a team player with excellent interpersonal skills
+ Excellent organizational skills with attention to accuracy and detail
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Strong mathematical and data analysis skills (including using Excel)
+ Performing geospatial analyses using GIS software is an asset
+ Canadian flora and fauna identification skills are an asset

Compensation:
Range: $81,000 - $84,000
At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.
Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
