Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking an Environmental Scientist to provide project chemistry support for environmental sampling related to site investigations and remediation projects. The candidate will be a project chemist in the database/chemistry group that supports large, complex environmental projects with coordination of environmental sample collection and analysis, data validation, data management, and reporting. Job Responsibilities - Perform data review and validation for multi-media chemical data in accordance with United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) National Functional Guidelines, USEPA Regional, and/or State guidelines. - Evaluate environmental laboratory analytical data for compliance with project quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) requirements provided in project-specific work plans and quality assurance project plans (QAPPs). - Develop project work plans and QAPPs. - Prepare data usability summaries/validation reports – compile QA/QC forms, prepare tables and write reports. - Maintain communications with laboratories on requirements for data delivery. - Support field efforts through preparation of sampling plans and coordination for field work. - Manage data flow from the laboratory to final reporting. - Act as liaison between laboratory, field team, and project management during project implementation Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science or Engineering preferred - Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental analytical chemistry, either as a project chemist, laboratory analyst, data validator, or combination of both - Experience in laboratory procedures and QA/QC processes - Familiarity with USEPA analytical methods - Experience/familiarity with operation and use of analytical laboratory equipment (e.g., ICP, ICP-MS, HPLC, GC, and/or GC/MS) is preferred - Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word Work Environment and Physical Demands Indoor (Office Environment) Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting. Majority of time spent using computer/laptop at workstation and related office equipment. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
