Job Title: Environmental Project Manager
Job Description
The Environmental Project Manager will oversee and manage a diverse portfolio of environmental projects, including environmental due diligence, site investigation/delineation, remediation, and UST removals. The role involves guiding sites through SRP and LUST programs while keeping key stakeholders engaged and informed. The manager will be responsible for writing and reviewing technical reports, proposals, and regulatory submittals in accordance with IEPA or state-specific requirements. Additionally, the role includes managing field programs involving soil, groundwater, and vapor investigation and remediation activities, ensuring project deadlines and profit/loss targets are met, hiring and managing subcontractors, mentoring and training scientific staff, and proactively identifying safety concerns to ensure safe project work.
Responsibilities

Expertise in Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.Experience in environmental science, geology, and environmental remediation.Knowledge of soil sampling, environmental compliance, groundwater, and LUST.Proficiency in project management and budget preparation.OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.Additional Skills & Qualifications
BA or BS in Environmental Science, Geology or Environmental Engineering.5+ years of experience managing soil and groundwater assessment and remediation projects.Experience managing and reviewing Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) and Property Condition Assessment (PCA) portfolios.Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or other relevant accreditation is a plus.Good safety record and understanding of safe work practices.Stormwater Compliance Experience.Valid driver's license with a good driving history and reliable transportation.Work Environment
The position is part of a growing remediation team within a national firm with over 1,800 employees and 50+ locations across the US. Initially, the individual will work in the office full-time to become familiar with internal systems, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule later. The role involves overseeing projects primarily in IL and IN, with occasional site visits using a company vehicle. The team includes a mix of senior and junior project managers and field staff, providing opportunities for mentorship and career growth.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.86 - $48.00/hr.
