The Environmental Lead is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the environmental department and ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. This role involves monitoring daily duties assigned to equipment operators, pickers, and cleaners to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency. The Lead should possess knowledge of machines and tools, production processes, and quality control techniques.
ResponsibilitiesOversee adherence to schedules, job assignments, and activities for efficient operations.Direct day-to-day maintenance of environmental cleaning and equipment to meet production schedules.Ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.Provide orderly maintenance of department equipment and recommend replacements as needed.Perform repairs cost-effectively to avoid downtime and equipment breakdowns.Monitor adherence to established safety programs to reduce accident frequency.Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed.Oversee a group of employees within the department.
Essential Skills2-3 years of experience working in an outdoor environment.Prior managerial experience.Knowledge of general construction.Experience with computer data entry.Familiarity with forklift operation and warehouse management systems.Experience in picking and production.Experience with asbestos abatement.
Additional Skills & Qualifications2+ years of experience working in an industrial or construction environment.Preferably 2-3 years of lead or managerial experience.

Work Environment
The work environment is a steel, metal, and auto recycling site with a production area and a large outdoor yard. The site has heavy machinery, moving parts, loud noises, and is dusty. Employees work in a warehouse located at the front of the site. The dress code requires steel toe shoes, pants, a plain t-shirt or sweater, and a vest provided by the company. The shift is primarily in the morning, with overtime on Saturdays as needed, currently working two Saturdays a month.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $28.00/hr.
