EHS Specialist
Location: Pheonix, AZ

PDS Tech is seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to provide Environmental, Health & Safety operational support for a manufacturing facility in Chicago, IL. This role is responsible for driving EHS compliance, implementing safety programs, conducting investigations, reducing risk, and supporting environmental permitting and reporting. The EHS Specialist will play a hands-on role in promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesImplement and support occupational safety, health, and environmental programs, including:
Confined Space
Hazard Communication
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
NFPA 70E / Electrical Safety
Ergonomics
Industrial Hygiene
Machine Guarding
Support site compliance related to air, waste, and water regulations
Assist with regulatory reporting and permitting, including RCRA, EPCRA, air permits, and stormwater
Prepare and submit required documentation such as RCRA permits, Tier II, TRI, and EPA reports
Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and evaluate risk mitigation controls
Develop, deliver, and document EHS training for managers and hourly employees
Lead EHS incident and near-miss investigations using root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and track to closure
Facilitate safety meetings and support site safety initiatives
Conduct facility, equipment, and safety inspections to identify and correct hazards
Promote safe work practices and environmental responsibility across the facility
Support emergency response activities and address employee safety concerns
Escort local, state, and federal inspectors during audits or inspections
Ensure inspection and readiness of fire protection and safety equipment
Track chemicals stored and used onsite
Support hazardous waste reduction initiatives
Partner with site leadership to prevent incidents related to unsafe conditions or behaviors
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position does not have direct supervisory responsibility
Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field
OR
High school diploma/GED with 7+ years of EHS experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in an EHS role
Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred
Experience in a 24-hour operation preferred
Safety certifications preferred:
OSHA 30 / OSHA 511 / OSHA 501
ASP / CSP
Other EHS-related certifications
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong working knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong communication and training skills
Professional, calm, and effective under pressure
Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Reliable, dependable, and punctual
Physical RequirementsFrequent walking throughout the facility
Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs
Ability to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive motion as needed
Occasional exposure to moderate to heavy noise
Ability to wear required PPE (safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.)
Pay Details: $40.00 per hour
