Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Job Description

Position supports the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) team by leading safety training modernization initiatives. The role involves developing safety training content, conducting training inventories and gap analyses, creating training matrices, and prioritizing risk-based training efforts.

Responsibilities

Modernize and update approved safety training content.Develop and maintain role/task/area-based training matrices.Conduct training inventories, gap analyses, and rationalization.Support risk-based prioritization aligned to SIF/SEI and regulatory requirements.Partner with internal HSE, L&D, and IT stakeholders.Support development of training governance and system readiness.Ensure documentation quality, consistency, and audit readiness.

Essential Skills

Strong understanding of hazard-based safety training concepts.Experience developing, updating, or managing training content.Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training workflows.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications

2-year Degree or High School Degree with 5+ years of directly relatable experience.Prior Health, Safety, and Environment experience.Experience working in manufacturing, pilot plant, and/or laboratory environments, preferably in the food CPG industry.

Work Conditions

This is an on-site position at the James Ford Bell Technical Center in Golden Valley, MN. The position is full-time for 6-12 months, with a schedule of 8 hours per day between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Hybrid flexibility may be available on some days depending on the work type. Personal technology will be used for this assignment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
