Location: Irvine, CA (Full-Time, On-Site)

Compensation: $45–$55/hr + Paid Overtime + 4–5% Annual Bonus

About the Role

We are seeking an Environmental Engineer / Design Engineer to join a collaborative, mentoring-focused team in Irvine, CA. This is a full-time, in-office position with significant technical responsibility and clear growth potential. The immediate need is for a design engineer, with the possibility of transitioning into project management based on workload and performance.

What You’ll DoDesign Engineering:Create engineering designs for remediation systems and infrastructure (AutoCAD preferred, not required).Develop conceptual site models and remediation plans.Permitting & Regulatory Compliance:Navigate municipal permitting processes (e.g., LADBS, LA County Public Works).Prepare regulatory submissions for in-situ remediation (State Water Board).Collaborate with DTSC and RWQCB on compliance matters.Field Work (Approx. 50% for first 2 years):Oversee drilling and sampling of soil, vapor, and groundwater wells.Perform vapor pin and groundwater monitoring.Manage subcontractors during field activities.Reporting & Documentation:Prepare quarterly performance reports for remediation systems.Draft groundwater sampling reports and client proposals.Ensure technical writing distinguishes findings from conclusions.Project Management Support:Review RFPs and contractor bids.Track budgets and timelines across 4–6 concurrent projects.Must-Have QualificationsBachelor’s in Environmental Engineering or Geology (Master’s preferred).2–5 years of environmental consulting or environmental engineering experience.Strong technical writing skills (critical for success).Comfort with fieldwork (50% for first 2 years).Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.Preferred SkillsAutoCAD proficiency (plus, not required).OSHA 40-HR HAZWOPER (preferred; easy to obtain).PE license (plus, not required).Familiarity with DTSC and Water Board submissions.Business development exposure (valuable for long-term growth).Why You’ll Love This RoleCareer Growth: Clear paths in operations, technical expertise, and client development.High-Impact Projects: Work on complex remediation projects—brownfield redevelopment, industrial site cleanup, and litigation support—not commoditized work like gas stations.Mentorship & Development: Strong emphasis on in-person learning; leadership invests time daily in teaching and guiding staff.Visibility & Influence: Small team environment means direct access to decision-makers and opportunities to shape outcomes.Competitive Compensation: $45–$55/hr, paid overtime, and annual bonus.Work EnvironmentFull-time, in-office role in Irvine, CA.Collaborative, family-friendly culture with an open-door policy.Engineers typically manage 4–6 projects simultaneously; flexibility is key.DisqualifiersLess than 2 years of environmental consulting experience.Non-ABET-accredited degree (unless supplemented by U.S. master’s).Mining/resource geology background without remediation experience.Phase I-only experience or weak technical writing skills.Job Type & Location

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
