Environmental Consultant - Global Manufacturing HSE

This role provides technical expertise and support to manufacturing sites related to Environmental compliance and performance potentially encompassing all media - air, water, and waste. The position will work closely with sites to develop and improve environmental control strategies, develop permitting strategies and negotiate delivery of appropriate permits, and help identify and reduce our most significant environmental risks. 

Responsibilities:

Provide strategic leadership for environmental programs across global manufacturing sites.Support the development of permitting strategies and assist in the securing of permits including Air Title V, Major NSR, and Minor Source Permits, and Water permits including NPDES, Section 401 Water Quality Certifications (WQC), and Section 404 Water Permits for facilities across the US.Promote best practices to reduce environmental compliance risks through training programs, risk assessments, and the development of comprehensive standards and procedures.Provide environmental regulatory interpretations and partner with Legal counsel to evaluate, communicate, and eliminate environmental risks associated with global business operations.Support sites in implementing the company Environmental Standard and global HSE expectations, ensuring compliance and operational flexibility.Conduct environmental program assessments and provide site support for environmental programs and capital projects as needed.Provide mentoring to environmental and engineering staff to further develop capability on environmental programs and tools, operational control strategies, and risk reduction methodologies.  Maintain and develop tools and processes required for the effective management of environmental programs (collaboration site, emissions database, assessment tools and documents, program metrics, etc.).

Basic Requirements:

BS in Engineering, Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, or related fieldMinimum 8 years of experience in an environmental Air and/or Water permitting and compliance role

Additional Preferences:

Experience with Title V, PSD, Nonattainment NSR, NESHAP, and NSPS Air regulationsExperience with NPDES, Section 401 WQC, and Section 404 Water Permitting regulationsProven ability to work effectively in a corporate role across a complex manufacturing organization to implement and communicate solutions at all levels of the organizationExperience with international environmental regulationsDemonstrated project management / planning capabilityDemonstrated mentoring skillsEnvironmental auditing experience and excellent technical writing skillsAbility to work cross functionally and lead cross functional teamsAbility to present and translate complex or technical subjects into easy-to-understand commentary for a broad audience
