Job Description

The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.

OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Environment - Officer (Reliever) to assist in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the in-house Environment Laboratory operations, monitor OGPI’s Pollution Control Facilities, recommend strategies for continuous improvements, and communicate findings to the concerned Teams, and establish and implement a systematic, proactive, and effective environmental processes and programs for the attainment of zero harm to workers, environment, and communities related to environmental monitoring, assessment, research, and studies. He/she will ensure Didipio Mine environmental management practices aligns with OGC environmental standards and regulatory requirements. The role will report to the Environment Advisor.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

Assists and participates in overseeing the day-to-day operations and maintaining accurate documentation for the Environmental LaboratoryEngages in activities promoting environmental awareness and hands-on immersion experiencesPerforms environmental tests, procedures and experiments applying and utilizing specialized skills, knowledge, and equipment in compliance with regulatory requirementsPerforms environmental tests, procedures and experiments applying and utilizing specialized skills, knowledge, and equipment in compliance with regulatory requirementsFollows standards, procedures and protocols in coordinating logistical and administrative arrangements to facilitate EMS planningStrictly adheres to budget as assigned

QualificationsBehaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way Graduate of Science-Related or Engineering (i.e., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, etc.) courseValid Chemical Technician/Chemist licensePrior experience in laboratory operations and monitoring activitiesBasic knowledge of Environment management (laboratory operations, water, air and noise monitoring, waste management, chemical handling, emergency, and spill response)Duly registered and currently licensed Chemical technician and Environmental Science and Pollution Control Officer Certified PractitionerWith a professional driver’s licenseAmenable to at least 6 months fixed term contract
