Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Engineer Technician I who has a keen interest in developing construction work packages for electric distribution systems. The role involves using various software systems and adhering to construction standards to manage distribution systems, which may be in Overhead (OH), Underground (UG), or Underground Residential Distribution (URD) environments. Candidates will work on projects such as joint use make ready and street light projects, utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, Work Management Systems (WMS), and other systems. Engineering calculations, structural analysis, and coordination of protective devices are integral parts of this role.
Responsibilities
Design and develop construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV.Manage projects associated with overloaded transformers, inspection and maintenance, joint use, and inspection reports.Ensure compliance with quality control, safe work practices, and adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget.Prepare forestry trimming requests and facilitate permit and Right-of-Way acquisition.Develop Bills of Materials (BOM), estimate costs, and manage customer advocacy tasks.Coordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field leaders, forestry leaders, and 3rd party owners for joint-owned poles.Review work provided by clients and assess scope requirements.Provide engineering support during and after construction to ensure compliance with engineering and construction standards.Conduct root cause analysis of outages and implement mitigation strategies using engineering principles and design.Essential Skills
Bachelor's Degree or Associate's in engineering technology, CAD, or drafting-related fields is preferred.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).Ability to work in outdoor environments as some fieldwork is required.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Power/Utilities experience is preferred but not required.Previous experience with field data collection is preferred.Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Framingham, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
