Entry-Level Controls Engineer
Develop, modify, and test PLC programs for new and existing automation systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or other major platforms).Assist in creating and updating HMI screen logic to support operator interaction and machine functionality.Perform PLC-level troubleshooting to diagnose faults, improve machine performance, and resolve automation issues.Support commissioning by downloading programs, performing I/O checks, tuning logic, and validating system functionality.Participate in code revisions, version control, and documentation of PLC and HMI software changes.Read and interpret electrical schematics to support PLC program development.Assist in integrating sensors, VFDs, motion control devices, and other field hardware into PLC logic.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.Foundational experience with PLC programming concepts such as ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured text (school projects or internships acceptable).Basic familiarity with one or more PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, Omron, Mitsubishi).Understanding of I/O systems, field devices, and industrial communication protocols.Ability to read wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a desire to grow into advanced PLC development.Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Streamwood, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $60.00/hr.
