Job Title: Entry Level Civil EngineerJob Description Assist with the planning, design, and construction of park district projects, including small parks, trails, playgrounds, bathrooms, and general site development. Support preparation of engineering drawings, grading plans, stormwater calculations, and cost estimates. Create ADA-compliant grading plans and extract design geometry from landscape architects using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Help submit permit applications, respond to agency comments, and provide clarification during construction (RFIs). Collaborate with landscape architects, project managers, city officials, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle. Conduct occasional site visits to verify conditions and supplement survey data; majority of work is office-based. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. + Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D. + Civil engineering skills. + Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. + U.S. citizenship or permanent residency without sponsorship. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Preferably 0-2 years of experience in a consulting engineering environment. + Internship experience is highly beneficial. Work Environment This position requires being in the office five days a week initially, transitioning to a hybrid schedule after onboarding. Work is primarily office-based design (about 90%), with occasional site visits to verify survey information. The role involves supporting numerous park district projects simultaneously, with opportunities for advancement. The Parks & Recreation team is divided into a design group and a field group. A company vehicle is available for site visits. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Warrenville, IL.
