Position will serve as an Engineering Technician II in the Wilmington District Office and will be primarily responsible for the processing, review, and approval of driveway permits, encroachment agreements, subdivision plans, and road additions. Will perform on-site inspections for compliance to NCDOT specifications for driveway permits, encroachments, and subdivisions. Conduct pre-construction meetings with applicants. Will perform field inspections and prepare deficiency letters as it relates to road additions, driveway permits and encroachments. The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle. Safety toe shoe footwear required. Additional Expectations Must be able to read and interpret constructions plans. Must be able to effectively communicate with engineers, developers, members of the public, public officials, and NCDOT personnel. Must have the ability to review driveway permit and encroachments plans, identify areas that are not in compliance with NCDOT standards, and respond to the applicant with a list of deficiencies. Position requires excellent organizational and time-management skills to ensure permits, agreements, and projects are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Position requires the ability to write memos and reports that clearly convey technical information and engineering concepts.
