Job Title: Engineering TechnicianJob Description

The Ground Robotics Technician for Autonomous Vehicle Technologies is responsible for testing the vehicle's electronic and mechanical systems before and after installation. This role involves calibration, closed road testing and tuning, and open road highway testing, specifically for remote and leader-follower automated driving vehicles.

ResponsibilitiesPerform detailed development work in RF, analog, and digital electronics under the guidance of engineers.Work independently to resolve existing problems and malfunctions swiftly.Collect and analyze engineering test data to achieve specific objectives.Research and analyze electronic components for new designs and replacing obsolete parts.Interpret drawings, specifications, and work instructions.Implement and test engineering changes.Create test plans and procedures for products under development.Travel to environmental and electromagnetic interference testing labs for new development qualification testing.Travel to customer sites within the U.S. or Europe for vehicle surveys, system installations, and follow-on testing, often outdoors, for durations ranging from a few days to a few weeks.Be present at the assigned worksite during designated hours without exception, barring personal time off or approved leave.Essential SkillsExpertise in electronics, troubleshooting, electrical, and mechanical systems.Proficiency in reading and interpreting assembly drawings, schematics, work instructions, and component identifications.Experience with advanced test equipment and computer-based control systems.Knowledge of RF radios.Proficiency in MS Office applications.Ability to troubleshoot and calibrate electrical and mechanical systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with unmanned ground vehicles (UGV) technical team in researching, designing, developing, and testing electronic control systems.Ability to collaborate with hardware, software, and mechanical design teams.Capability to test and troubleshoot electronic assemblies down to the component level for new and existing designs.Onsite work requirement.Work Environment

The position operates in a production environment, office setting, and garage/outdoor space. It requires the ability to work outdoors on autonomous vehicles, including Class 8 vehicles, to test, troubleshoot, and calibrate electrical and mechanical systems. The role demands standing and sitting for long periods, working inside, outside, and under vehicles, and lifting up to 30 pounds. The position offers a 9/80 work schedule, contract-to-hire potential, upward mobility, and negotiable PTO/holiday benefits.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $37.00/hr.
