Engineering Technician
Job Title: Engineering Technician - Instrument and Test Prototype eBike Components Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician to instrument and test prototype vehicle components and complete vehicle systems. You will support engineers in diagnosing issues related to electrical, mechanical, and software components while conducting performance, durability, and environmental testing on various vehicle parts. Responsibilities + Support engineers in diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and software-related issues. + Conduct performance, durability, and environmental testing on gears, motors, batteries, sensors, controllers, and wiring harnesses. + Perform data collection using electrical measurement tools, such as oscilloscopes and CAN analyzers. + Update wiring harnesses, modify schematics, and support system integration tasks. + Document test procedures, findings, and build configurations with high attention to detail. + Maintain lab equipment, test fixtures, tools, and workspaces. + Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams. + Provide feedback to engineering on design improvements based on testing results. Essential Skills + Demonstrated experience working with electro-mechanical systems, including motors, sensors, wiring, and mechanical assemblies. + Proficiency using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, torque tools, and data logging systems. + Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. + Strong troubleshooting skills with a methodical and safety-focused approach. + Comfortable building, modifying, and repairing prototype hardware. + Problem-solving skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field; or equivalent hands-on experience. + 2-5 years of experience working with electromechanical systems. + Mechanical intuition to recognize proper fit, torque, and component behavior with fasteners, bearings, gears, and precision mechanical parts. + Hands-on experience with eBike systems including motors, controllers, batteries, sensors, and firmware interfaces. + Familiarity with CAN Bus or other communication protocols. + Experience with battery technologies and BMS systems. + Prototyping skills such as soldering, crimping, machining, or 3D printing. + Knowledge of firmware flashing tools or basic embedded system debugging. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Troy, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
