Engineering Technician
Engineering Technician Overview We’re looking for a versatile, detail‑driven individual who thrives at the intersection of hands‑on system builds and structured documentation control. This role supports product development, manufacturing, and continuous improvement by building complex assemblies and fixtures, developing clear work instructions, and maintaining accurate engineering documentation. You’ll be a key bridge between design engineering, operations, and quality. Key Responsibilities + Assemble and build complex electromechanical systems, prototypes, and production fixtures. + Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and 3D models to build assemblies accurately. + Support engineering experiments, validation builds, and root‑cause investigations. + Translate engineering concepts into clear, step‑by‑step instructions for technicians and operators. + Create, update, and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and assembly guides. + Manage engineering documentation within the company’s ERP system + Collaborate with engineering to ensure documentation reflects the latest design changes and best practices. + Ensure proper revision control, traceability, and release workflows for drawings, BOMs, and specifications. + Coordinate engineering change orders (ECOs) and ensure timely implementation across teams. + Work closely with design engineers, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to resolve build issues and improve processes. Required Qualifications + Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering OR Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience as a Technician + Strong hands‑on experience with prototype building, mechanical assembly, or system integration. + Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, BOMs, and CAD models. + Exceptional attention to detail and organizational discipline. + Clear written communication and ability to simplify complex processes. + Strong problem‑solving mindset and willingness to dive into hands‑on challenges. Preferred Qualifications: + Experience writing work instructions, SOPs, or technical documentation. + Familiarity with PLM/ERP systems and document control workflows. + Understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards, and engineering change management. + Experience in robotics, LIDAR, camera systems or other complex electromechanical products. + Autobody work experience or experience working with large complex equipment (including forklift) Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Waltham, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $68.89/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
