Job Title: Engineering Technician Job Description As an Engineering Technician, you will engage in OEM service repairs for customer-owned test and measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and analyzers. These instruments may be 15-20 years old, returning from the field, and your role will involve diagnostic and decision-based work, rather than production or assembly-line tasks. Responsibilities + Receive instruments from customers and run them through automated test stations. + Review and analyze test data outputs to determine the failure points such as front-end board, acquisition board, motherboard, etc. + Make technical decisions regarding whether to repair or swap boards, collaborating with assemblers for removal/installation and calibration operators for re-testing. + Ensure instruments pass tests, then ship them back to the customer and process billing. + Decide on repair actions based on data analysis, without relying on guessing or trial-and-error. Essential Skills + Formal electronics foundation is mandatory, such as an Associate’s degree in Electronics/Engineering Technology, technical trade school, or military technical background in fields like Air Force avionics or Navy nuclear. + Understanding of general electronics fundamentals. + Ability to perform logical and algorithmic troubleshooting. + Proficiency in interpreting test data and block diagrams. + Understanding of analog and digital electronics and how circuit boards and systems interact. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in a service environment. + Customer-facing communication skills. + Familiarity with Tektronix, Keysight, or Anritsu instruments. + Comfort with data-driven analysis and identifying likely failure points before taking action. Work Environment The position is based in a manufacturing environment where you will conduct testing and repairs. You will have the opportunity to work with legacy equipment and will have your own workspace.
