Visit our website (http://www.wabteccorp.com/) to learn more! **Role Summary/Purpose** + Technical Leader - Platform Engineering will play a key role in providing technical leadership to the platform subsystem, drive design and development of platform / underframe components and subsystems, providing technical solutions. + Interface with cabs, platform & rest of the subsystems to optimize the product for performance, reliability, and cost. + Drive standardization, innovation, design practices and learnings. **Essential Responsibilities** + Interdependently lead the design and development of platform subsystem for locomotives following robust Engineering design and development process. + Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory and Wabtec specifications. + Must lead multiple complex projects by adhering to Wabtec processes while meeting business standards and program / product requirements. + Influence the technical direction for Platform sub-system to maximize the business impact. + Assure proper documentation of technical data generated and utilize same for training and effort optimization. + Ability to understand the system requirements flow down to sub-system. + Develop concepts and evaluate, identify risks and mitigation plans to address them. + Take the design through technical reviews. Document the technical data consistent with Engineering policies and quality procedures. + Provide shop support for in-house manufacturing and address supplier/field issues. + Interfacing with cross functional stakeholders across the organization. + Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments. + Participate in organizational initiatives and team activities. **Qualifications/Requirements** + Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from reputed institute with 12+ years of experience demonstrating increased responsibility in driving technical solutions and business outcomes. + Experience in design, FEA, and development of mechanical components, sub-systems for locomotive, rolling stock or heavy/infrastructure engineering industry will be an added advantage. **Desired Characteristics** + Should have good understanding of design of platform/ Car body structures. + Should guide the CAD team to develop 3-D models and packaging concepts. + Hands-on experience in FEA and evaluation of mechanical components / sub-systems / mechanical structures + Good understanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication, casting, forging and mechanical assembly procedures and strong working knowledge on various design codes and welding codes. + Good written and verbal communication skills in English. + Must be a flexible to work at global locations. + Familiarity with NPI process. + Deep technical understanding and competency in locomotive/ heavy vehicle chassis / structural component design and related tools like FEA, Dynamics etc. + Proven record of Engineering Design, manufacturing and reliability in areas welded structures / FEA etc. + Must have experience with heavy / light fabricated & cast structures design & evaluation. + Must have exceptional interpersonal Skills to interface effectively with cross functional teams. + Strong oral and written communication skills. + Strong technical leadership skills + Ability to work independently + Strong problem-solving skills **Our Commitment to Embrace Diversity:** Wabtec is a global company that invests not just in our products, but also our people by embracing diversity and inclusion.
