**About the Role**
## Engineering Manager – Uber for Business (U4B) Platform
Uber for Business (U4B) is one of the fastest-growing businesses at Uber. As an **Engineering Manager on the U4B Platform team**, you will lead and scale multiple engineering teams responsible for the core B2B platform that powers products such as **Rides for Business, Uber Health, Uber Central, Uber Transit, Vouchers, and Eats for Business**.
In this role, you will be accountable for **technical execution, team health, delivery excellence, and platform evolution**. You will partner closely with senior engineers, product managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the platform scales reliably to support **hundreds of millions of transactions across more than 150,000 organizations**, while enabling rapid product innovation.
This role is ideal for an experienced engineering leader who combines **strong people leadership, technical judgment, and strategic thinking** to drive meaningful business impact at scale.

**Lead and manage multiple engineering teams** responsible for building, evolving, and operating the U4B B2B platform.
**Own delivery and execution** for critical platform initiatives, ensuring high-quality, on-time outcomes.
**Partner with senior/staff engineers** to drive architectural decisions, technical strategy, and long-term platform evolution.
**Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and performance** across high-volume transaction flows serving 150K+ organizations.
**Drive prioritization and planning**, balancing short-term delivery with long-term technical investments.
**Collaborate cross-functionally** with Product, Design, Data, Operations, and Business stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business goals.
**Build and grow high-performing teams** through hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development.
**Champion engineering excellence**, including best practices in system design, code quality, testing, security, observability, and operational rigor.
**Own incident management and operational health**, ensuring strong on-call practices, postmortems, and continuous improvement.
\-\-\-\- Basic Qualifications ----
1. **12+ years of software engineering experience**, including 2 **\+ years in engineering management** or technical leadership roles.
2. Strong technical background in **object-oriented programming languages** (e.g., Go, Java, C++, C#), with the ability to guide and review complex designs.
3. Experience building and operating **large-scale distributed systems** serving millions of users, with deep understanding of production reliability and performance.
4. Hands-on experience with **distributed storage systems and databases** (SQL or NoSQL, e.g., MySQL, Cassandra).
5. Proven ability to **lead multiple teams** through complex problem spaces and deliver scalable, maintainable solutions.
6. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence across organizational boundaries.

Experience managing platform-heavy teams.
Track record of scaling **high-reliability, high-throughput transaction platforms**.
Strong intuition for **technical tradeoffs** and the ability to guide teams without micromanaging implementation.
Experience driving **cross-functional alignment** in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
Demonstrated commitment to **engineering quality, security, observability, and operational excellence**.
